If you've spent your money on WEMO devices you know by now how poor the Belkin WEMO app is, and how unreliable the WEMO automation can be. You may feel uncomfortable about using an external (cloud) service (IFTTT) to control your lights and appliances. I still want my lights to turn on even when my internet connection is down!

This is not the official Belkin app. You will still need their official app at least once to connect your devices to your WiFi (they use proprietary method to set your router password into the device which I cannot duplicate).

Note that this app only works locally on the same network as your Wemo switches (you can still use Belkin for remote access), and it must be connected and active for it's automation rules to operate.

While not as pretty as the Belkin version, this app fixes all of those problems.

- a main app to find and manually control all of your WEMO devices

- individual on/off widgets for your switches or motion state

- a running service that monitors and keeps your Wemo devices connected

- basic rules to schedule when your switches are activated (e.g. on/off on motion, sunrise/sunset at your location, scheduled).

Use with an automation app like Automagic for one touch on/off actions, email and txt actions, location awareness, etc.

To provide home automation for your WEMO using this app, you need to install it on a dedicated, always on tablet or phone connected to the same network on which your WEMOs are attached. Get one of the android automation apps from Google Play (Automagic is very good, and I have some sample automation for it and WEMO on my website).

To use with an automation server, add the widget to this device's home page. Start up the main app to make sure your devices have been discovered and are available, and check that they can be controlled and their state detected. Copy any "intents" you need from the provided window, and program your automation.

The widget + service provide the following:

- monitor the devices and state

- accept ON and OFF requests as Broadcast Intents (used by android automation apps) to control the devices

- sends Broadcast Intents to report changes in switch and motion state, device or communication errors

Very stable, the service tracks which devices are attached, and checks it's connection to them frequently to ensure they are active and have reported the right state. It listens and reacts (reports) instantly to on/off events from the switches and motion devices.

Unleash the power! Combined with my other automation applications and Automagic, you can:

- turn lights on and off relative to sunrise and sunset times

- put single touch widgets on your phone to control the lights/outlets

- use your phone location or send an email or text message to trigger automation

- turn lights on when a security zone is opened/entered using my DscServer app (a security alarm system app)

- turn lights off (immediately or delayed) when a security zone is closed, using my DscServer app

- flash the outside lights when a security alarm is active, using my DscServer app

- control your lights, switches using WEMO motion, or trigger alarms, garage door openers, etc with my DscServer

- control your CT-30 Radio (WIFI) Thermostat using my CT-30 Thermostat server (pro version)

- reduce your CT-30 target temperature and hold it automatically when your DSC alarm system is set to "Away"

- return your CT-30 to regular programming on a timer, or when you disarm your DSC system

And whatever else your imagination tells you.
